Instructional Coach, Founding Staff Member of PS 527
Jessica Elias
Jessica is looking forward to supporting PS 527’s students and staff in her role as an Instructional Coach. In 2012, Jessica became a founding staff member at PS 527. Since then, she has fulfilled a variety of roles integral to the school’s development. She most recently served as the school’s Literacy Intervention Specialist. Throughout the years, Jessica has worked closely with students and teachers at each grade level to support instruction through a collaborative and structured approach. She is an organized and responsive practitioner who believes that everyone has the capacity to grow and expand their practice to ensure that school is a welcoming and rewarding experience for students, staff, and families.

Jessica is a native Manhattanite and received her B.S. from Cornell University, where she was a distinguished Leader of Tomorrow Scholar. She earned her M.A. from Teachers College, Columbia University in Inclusive Elementary Education with a Special Education extension. She also completed a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in School Leadership and Administration, and is a certified School Building Leader (SBL) and School District Leader (SDL). Jessica also holds several accreditations in literacy instruction and is a certified Orton-Gillingham instructor. Overall, Jessica has taught a wide range of learners from diverse backgrounds in a variety of settings and has both led and engaged in a myriad of professional development opportunities.

In her spare time, Jessica enjoys traveling and going on adventures. She has visited over 55 countries, been to six out of seven continents, and has made it to most states in the U.S.A. She also enjoys cooking, being creative, going to museums, trying new restaurants, and exploring the many wonderful neighborhoods of New York
