Lauren Davis
Lauren Davis was born and raised in San Francisco, the daughter of two teachers. She moved to Boston for college, where she studied Child Development at Tufts University. She then attended grad school at Columbia Teachers College, earning her master’s degree in Elementary Inclusive Education. Lauren has been working with children at summer camps and programs since she was in high school. While at Teachers College, Lauren student taught fourth grade at PS 321 in Brooklyn and first grade at Manhattan School for Children (PS 333). She then taught second grade for two years at The Chapin School, a private girls school on the Upper East Side. A lifelong learner, Lauren enjoys traveling, exploring NYC, learning to play the guitar and ukulele, and playing with her new puppy. Lauren is thrilled to be a part of PS 527 and proud to be a founding staff member! She strongly believes in the school’s goal of fostering a joy for learning as well as a desire to help others through social action projects. She especially enjoys helping her students develop a love of literature and was a leader in the creation of the PS 527 library. During the past six years at PS 527, Lauren has worked hard to promote a warm and engaging environment that encourages diversity, empathy, creativity, and critical thinking. When designing and differentiating curriculum, Lauren takes into account both the academic and social-emotional needs of each student so that everyone feels valued and safe. Lauren believes that teaching children about the world around them empowers them to become active and curious citizens in our increasingly global society. She enjoys sharing her travel experiences with her students to teach them about the world and encourage social action projects. Lauren has loved being a part of the exciting first six years of PS 527 and developing partnerships with students, families, and staff. She looks forward to continuing to work with the wonderful PS 527 families in the years to come!
