Rosa Biaggi

Rosa Biaggi is a native of Manhattan, New York. She graduated from Hunter College with a dual Bachelor’s degree in Creative Writing and Childhood Education Gr 1-6. She is currently pursuing her Masters Degree in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) Gr PreK-12.

Since as far back as she can remember, Rosa has always loved teaching. From pretending to be a teacher as a child with her friends, tutoring peers in high school, working as a babysitter, summer camp counselor, afterschool staff, licensed substitute teacher, to at last becoming a general education classroom teacher.

In the 2016-2017 school year, Rosa was a student teacher at PS 527 in a 1st grade classroom. Describing the experience as the most outstanding she had ever had, Rosa knew she would love to one day return to PS 527. During the 2017-2018 school year, Rosa worked as a dedicated Head Teacher for a 1st grade classroom of thirty first-graders of a charter school in the Bronx, NY. She dedicated herself fully to the job, making a difficult decision that she would not begin to pursue her Masters degree as she did not want to divide her time between leading the classroom, and going to grad school. Rosa loved being a Head Teacher, and continued to fall more and more in love with teaching the entire year.

Recently, Rosa was accepted to begin her Masters degree, and was also offered a chance to return to PS 527 as an Assistant Teacher as she completes this new degree. As if fate, the spot Rosa is taking for the 2018-2019 school year reunites her with Elissa Janowitz, the same teacher she once was a student teacher for back in 2016. Rosa looks forward to continue fostering both a love of learning and a love of creativity with her students. She is excited to re-unite with like-minded colleagues full of originality and a passion for teaching. She is absolutely thrilled to develop relationships with her new classroom's students and parents!

Some of Rosa's additional interests include playing the glockenspiel xylophone, running on the soccer field, and writing. She has a dream of becoming a children's author one day.
